Ruth 02 - Feeling Toxic

In week 2 of our Ruth study, we will read about Naomi’s confession of feeling toxically bitter.  We all have our own moments when we feel “toxic” – we may even have the sense that people shouldn’t be around us because we’re radioactive.  Stewing within are some unhealthy emotions, beliefs, and attitudes…and that stuff can leak out. But just like in Naomi’s story, we take hope in the fact that the love of the Lord is capable of cleansing and transforming all of that toxicity.

Living With an Open Hand

For today I want to rehearse a truth with you that I first presented in the first message I shared with you after being named Sr. pastor of TPCC. A lesson I am still learning today is how to live my life with open hands:  freely receiving and freely giving.  We all like receiving but we can have a hard time letting go of what’s in our hand.

Jesus Is Lord 10 - Lord of the Resurrection

We will remain in our Lordship study and look to Jesus as the Lord of the Resurrection.  John 11 records what theologians call, “the most important sign of Jesus’ life and ministry.” The resurrection of Lazarus provides a tell that there is nothing impossible for God. Jesus has the ability to resolve, restore, change, and complete some of the unfulfilled, lost, and impossible circumstances of life. And His question to Martha requires our own personal response: “Do you believe this?”

Jesus Is Lord 09 - Blessed is He Who Comes in the Name of the Lord

As we continue our Jesus is Lord series, we will examine the Palm Sunday blessing of Jesus – blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. We will see the sad twist of rejection that Jesus endured and learn how His Lordship extends over our lives when we are experiencing our own rejections.

This morning, we are continuing our study in the game changing truth that Jesus is Lord! It’s one thing to accept God’s invitation for salvation – to be forgiven and go to heaven when you die; but it’s also part of our salvation story to submit to Jesus as the Lord of your life.  If you are truly saved, then He must be your Lord! Today we’re going to explore the significance of this repeated phrase “…in the Lord”
